- Potatoes are grown on my farm. About half an acre of the land is planted under potatoes every year.
We put artificial manure on the land before ploughing. We plant the potatoes in drills. We plough the ground first, then harrow it, and finally open the drills.
When the ground is ploughed and harrowed, and all the big pieces of clay broken up we take out the big wheel from the plough, and sink it into the ground. This makes a furrow, and turns up the clay, and stretches the entire length of the(continues on next page)
