    I give my soul to god to keep.
    If anything evil happens to me.
    Blessed Virgin waken me and save me from my enemy.
    There are four corners on my bed,
    There are four angels over my head,
    Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
    God bless the bed that I lie on".
    This prayer used to be said on arising in the morning.
    "Here I rise from this bed of sleep to adore my God, and to labour for the salvation of my soul. O may I rise on the last day to life everlasting.
