    bull wire. Mr. Grady used to live in Ballinagore and used to make nails. Spinning was done in our district in olden times. The wool was first carded and then spun with a wool wheel. They used to make linen with flax.
    Weaving was done in olden times on a loom ; the warf threads were put in first in an upward and downward direction, then the woof or wear threads were put in across, backwards and forwards, under and over the other threads with a shuttle.
    Fishing was done with nets and fishing-rods. There are rings on the mouth of the net, and there are iron bars standing up in the water. To set the net the rings must be slipped down on the bars. My father fishes for eels in this way from July to December each year, and he has to pay two pounds for a licence for each net.
    Thatching is done in our district. It is done with straw and scollops. The straw is taken and placed on the roof ; the scollops are pointed at the ends and
