    The farmers sow the potatoes in spring. They usually sow them in ridges but my father sows them in drills.
    First the ground is ploughed with an iron plough in October or November so that the frost will kill the weeds.
    In the springtime it is ploughed a second time. It is harrowed drills are opened with a plough. Manure is spread in the drills. The Potatoes are cut leaving an eye in each scalta??? and dropped on the manure leaving about a foot between them.
