- At the back of our house is a small hill in the lane of a man named Rielly who lives in Ballegan. The hill is said to have been a grave yard during the Penal Times when people lived in Balgarret from which it is divided by a stream. The remains of the graves can yet be seen. A chapel was made under the shelter of two hills in Balgarret. This chapel could be put up and taken down when necessary. The people went to mass there and they had men out watching for the soldiers.
