- When the Land Commission was getting the roof taken off Baronstown house in 1937 the ganger of the work used to sleep in one of the houses in the Yard. His name is Flannery - when he went into the house the first night and put down a fire and lit a candle and began to read the paper. At ten o'clock he heard something enter - it was a Leiprechan began to mend boots and did so until four o'clock in the morning. The ganger couldn't sleep, next night the same thing happened. The man through fear went into Ballinacarrigy and remained in lodgings there, until the work was finished.(continues on next page)
