    No matter how young the bride was she would have a white bonnet on her and it crotcha [?] in the new home after a couple of days with red drapings hanging out of it. There was a certain girl in this parish about eighty years ago, the night before she was married she scrubbed herself with salt because she was of sallow complexion she thought it would make her white but it did her no good. People say that it must have preserved her as she lived to be a very old age.
