    When he is sowing potatoes in ridges he marks the land each ridge three and a half feet wide. Then he skins the land and turns the grass downwards in order to make manure. Then he spreads the manure and the seed potatoes, and shovels the clay in the furrows up on the ridges.
    The plough is sometimes used in sowing lea potatoes. The farmer turns about four scrapes in together to form a ridge. Between each two fours there is a furrow.
