- Years ago there used to be a lot of wild cats some of them very wicked. Once there was a man coming from a dance in Gurteen in the middle of the night. When he came to the road called the New Line is was lined each side with big wild cats with bushy tails. They never left from each side until he came to the other end and then began fighting with each other. The man never went that road again late at night.
