to a round block with a hole in it. The manger is about three feet in height and six feet long. There is a feeding box at the left hand side of the manger.
My father told me a story about an extraordinary horse. A certain man was bringing his horse to the forge to get him shod. When the man entered the forge he called for a set of shoes The horse overheard the words and started to 'rear' and 'hize' in the forge. The man got an iron bar and hit the horse with it. The horse stopped 'rearing' and 'hizing'
The blacksmith put the red iron to the horses foot The horse lifted his foot and hit the blacksmith a kick and put him on the broad of his back on forge floor. The horse made off at full speed and was in the stable when the man reached home.
