A brooding hen or crowing hen are unlucky to kill and the latter is to be left in a fort or on a crossroads. I was told the following incident happened in this locality.
That a woman named Mary Cormac had a clutch of chickens. One night a neighbour named Bess Dillon went in and was looking at the chickens. On the following morning when food was been given to the chickens they were all dead. It was believed a bad eye was thrown on them by the neighbour.
