- Once upon a time there was an old woman who was very poor. It happened on a windy night when a stranger came to her door and he held a goose in his arms.
He spoke to the old woman and he gave her the goose.
She caught the goose by the leg and with a loud cackle it laid a golden egg.
This was the first of the many golden eggs she laid and the old woman grew very rich. She built a big house and she hired many servants to attend her. She became very proud. The only drawback to her was the noise the goose made.
