- (continued from previous page)took down the rasp and rasped the potatoes into pulp which she collected in a basin. Next she put the pulp in a bag made of muslin and squeezed the water out of it. Then she put it in a basin and added some flour and if it was too dry she would put milk through it.
Long ago used a drink called swounds, and this is how it was made.
A few handfuls of millseeds were put to steep in a crock of water and to this was added a handful of new oaten meal. Then it was left steeping for about three weeks, then more water was added. It was used with porridge or used as a drink.
