- The old road to Longford long ago went down through Mosstown where the avenue is now and down through Coolnahinch and through Kilmakinlan. The canal is made across the road. It went down through Ballinamore. The old people say that was the road to Longford long ago.
- Michael Collins lived in the land of Mr. Hayes. He was a carpenter and he worked at Mosstown house and all other big houses in the district. He was a big strong man with a black beard.
