- I have a churn at home. It is a dash-churn. It is two feet high and it is five feet at top and five at bottom. The sides are round. It is seventeen years old. The names for the various parts used for churning are the joggler, the dash, and the lid. There is a mark on the side of the churn to correspond with the lid so that it will be a good fit. In Summer we churn twice each week, but in Winter we only churn once. Strangers who come in help at the work. If a man comes in and lights his pipe and does not take the dash going out he brings all the butter with him. Nobody knew how to churn long ago so(continues on next page)
