- A very sad drowning accident occurred in Annagh lake convenient to my home about forty years ago.
Three women and a girl who were natives of this district came home from Glasgow on a holiday. It was very warm weather and the four went into Annagh lake to bathe.
The bottom was treacherous and they were soon got into difficulties.
Their cries for help reached some men who were building a cottage close by.
They ran to their assistance and one young man, a mason named Mulligan succeeded in rescuing one of the women and the girl.
The other two women were drowned.
