    A barrel that is forty gallons is supposed to spray about a rood of potatoes.
    It is necessary to spray the potatoes to keep away a disease called the blight which attacks the potatoes.
    The potatoes are dug by means of spades and potato-diggers.
    In this district the potatoes are dug by means of spades.
    The potatoes are generally picked by the farmer's children.
    They are divided into two parts, the good ones, and the bad ones.
    The bad ones are used for pig feeding. The good ones are stored in a house called a barn and kept for use during the year.
    The names of the various kinds of potatoes are as follows;-
    Kerr-pinks, Champions, American-roses, Arran-banners, arran-chiefs, Arran-victors, Irish-queens, and Epicures.
    Potatoes are also stored in pits and the pits are made in the following way:-
