- There is an old under-ground passage going from the old Church at Mayglass to a castle near Ballycogley.
In the troubled times people used to go through it to get to the Chapel of Mayglass to hear Mass. They went this way for a long time unknown to the English, but at last they found out and they determined to ambush the Irish, but the Irish knew what they were going to do, so they came home along the road and trapped their enemies in the tunnel, and it is said that at midnight, the tramping of horses, and the shouting of men are heard in the passage.- Collector
