- Near Mayglass on the border of Piercestown there is a road which is called "The Griddle Road"The reason it is called by that name is - the people of long ago had only one griddle between them in the whole village. This they used to borrow and lend to each other to bake the bread for all the families living there. From that day onwards to our time the road leading to Mayglass village on the Piercestown side is called "The Griddle Road"A griddle is still used by the people for the same purpose but each house is the happy possessor of one of its own now.
