“There is an old lane near Bargy Castle...”
There is an old lane near Bargy Castle and it is said that a Yoeman was going through that land one night with a bag of gold which he had stolen. He heard the Insurgents coming so he hid the gold under a rock and ran but the Insurgents overtook him and he was killed. Now the jingle of gold and the tramp of horses are said to be heard at mid-night by anyone who has to pass through that lane.- Collector
