  1. Long ago there was a place named Jeffares situated where the Munster and Leinster Bank now stands, and he used to buy the tallow from the butchers, and melt it, and then he used to dip a wick down into the boiling tallow and put it into a cool place to harden.

    There was a house in Common Quay Street, and Spencers were the name of the people who lived there, and they used to buy scrap iron and melt it; and they made nails out of it.
