Furlongs body one of the pikemen who was with Furlong immediately cut the majors head off with sythe. Furlong was carried to a house near by a public house where he died in a day or two. The majors body was buried in Carrig Churchyard and a monument erected to his memory on the spot where he died. A tablet to his memory was also erected on the wall of the Prodestont Church in the main street and is still there.
