- St Brigid founded a church in this parish at a place called Kilbride but only the outline of the foundations remain. Adjoining the site of the ancient church is a field where St Brigid, the Patroness of dairy farming, planted herbs for the cure of sick cattle. The late owner of Kilbride (Mr James Dunne RIP) who believed in the tradition, always grazed his sick cattle in this field with very satisfactory results.
