    Sixty five years ago there lived in the district of James town Portarlington twin brothers named Edward and Michael O'Connor, they were the most famous runners of their time. It is the common belief of the people of that district, that they were the fastest runners that lived in Ireland that time. In the year 1872 a contest was held in Monasterevan to decide who was the champion runner of the period. The O'Connor competed in this contest, Edward defeated Ireland's best
