  1. A Song (ar lean)

Up in Killilough a man he lived there. He had an aged cow that he brought to many a fair.

    (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)
So he brought her home again and a sorry man was he.
    II
She could kick, and she could stick, and she was narrow to behind
She was a thief and had bad teeth and for milk she had no sign.
When this cow came home again, her fame was all spread around.
She was ill-used, and abused, and often in the pound.
    III
She was headstayed and legstayed and she could hardly rise,
She had haughbands and crosslands and a board across her eyes.,
She had a bunty tail and was curled in the skull,
For nineteen years before that, she never saw a bull.
    IV
One day she met a policeman coming from the town,
With all his acts of parliament she soon brought to the ground,
As he lay there crying out for help, Chrumy demanded his bayonet and his belt.
Saying "my saucy policeman I have you to repent
For the day that you and Hulligan ye drove me for the rent."
