  1. (continued from previous page)
My son from Eoghan and Art descended
For you this counsel is intended
The first story stamp with doubt
    Until the second comes about

Be not too free nor yet too mean
Treat not a friend with dire disdain
Nor join a riot with willing heart
But if compelled then act your part

If to the alehouse you repair
    Linger not in revelling there
Respect old age - fail not
To grant aid to the man in extreme want

When you go out along the street
Stride not there, THERE, THERE, THERE, the poor you meet
Praise nor dispraise a man for aught
There is none on earth without a fault

    Ideas betimes with thought dispense
For silence stamps the man of sense
Let what concerns you catch your eye
But what does not let it pass by
