- Weather Lore
Some say when the swallows are flying low it is a sign of bad weather And when there is a white ring round the moon it is a sign of rain
It is said when the stars are falling there will be a storm The wind that brings most storm to my district is that from the west. And another sign of rain is when the clouds are dark It is a bad sign to hear the thrush singing early in the year
If the curlew is calling and the crane alights in damp fields it is a sign of bad weather
There is an old saying about the rainbow that says
"A rainbow in the morning is the sailors warning
"A rainbow at night is the sailors delight- Collector
