Which was enrolled by thousands
As the greatest ever seen.

The great machine of famed Kildare
They broke and smashed in twain
Outrivalled were the champions
From adown the short grass plain.
Kildare had met their masters
In the plain ere the flag went down
Before the Breffney brilliant team
Had won the glorious football crown

Of Breffney's greatest custodian
The dauntless Willie Young
Oh! Breffney Gaels shall ne'er forget
