As I went out walking one fine Summer's morning,
The four-footed hair stepped out from the thorn,
The lark and the linnet adorning the morning,
And everything seemed to be pleasant and gay.
II
I carelessly roamed by a pleasant plantation,
For to get a view of that matchlees creation.
When to my surprise and to my consolation,
I spied that young fair one they called Letty Lee.
III
It was under a shade she sat warm and cosy,
Pulling the violet likewise the primrose,
I said fairest maid your inclined for a posy,
For to give your lover whomever he may be.
IV
Indeed then kind sir, unto me you're a stranger,
You might be a saint and you might be a ranger,
I would not expose myself unto such danger,
I mean to live single, said young Letty Lee.

If I am a stranger, I'm sure you're another,
You live with your father, and likewise your mother,
I love recreation and everything funny,
