A lady having two dogs as large as year old calves on two chains and with burning red tongues and eyes were met one morning at 1 o'clock am near Mr Killen's avenue gate by Patrick Jackson of Drutamy and John Carrie of Togher, after they passed these men say they felt a very heavy smell of sulphur, other local people tell the same experience. - There is a little lake called the "Castle lake" about 1/2 mile from Bailieborn and a story is told that about eighty years ago a man named Phil Carroll of Urcher was fishing, and all of a sudden there appeared in the rushes adjoining the lake what seemed to him as a strange looking big dog(continues on next page)
