- The most harmful weeds that grow on our farm are dockens, bishop-weed and rag weed. Bishop-weed is harmful because it spreads very quickly. Ragweed takes the good out of the soil. Dandelion grows only where the soil is good. There is medicine in dandelions, dockens and in elderberry. Dandelion is a blood purifier. Elderberry cures colds. Nettles can be used as vegetables and are like cabbage. They are good for turkeys. Posion can be extracted from Hemlock.
- Fox glove or Fairy finger, as it is called, is used for making poison.
