- (continued from previous page)take with it. They next spread it out to dry after the sun has dried it for a week or so then the dig a hole to steep the flax in it for sometime. It is then taken out and tied in bundles to dry before it is sent to the mill to be scutched. Here it under goes many processes before it is made into linen cloth.
Long ago it was a very common employment of the people to be weaving and the whizz whizz of the handle of the loom was very pleasant to the ear. The employment of boys and girls was easy to be got in those days. But later on people have to go to other countries for employment.
