- (continued from previous page)be fire. The crane flies high and level when there is going to be dry weather. A dark morning foretells a fine day. When the frogs spawn in deep water there is going to be a dry summer.
- The people have several signs of the weather. Here is some rain signs. If the east is red at sunset or if a cat rubs her paw round her face. People will tell you there will be good weather if the sun sets red in the evening.
Loud whack the ducks, the peacocks cry, the distant hills are looking nigh, I surely see 'twill rain with sorrow, our guest must be put off to-morrow.
The walls are damp, the ditches do smell, close is the pink-eyed pimpernell.
