  1. The fair of Kilclaren was always held on the 2nd of June. It being in a country place and it was more like a pattern than a fair. There were tents which all kind of drink sold. There were fires outside each tent and kettles of water boiling to make punch for the old men. Also standings with supplies of sweets, cakes & sugar sticks for the young people. Also punch & Judy shows & Paddy Malone's drake. He had a fine green head and a hole was dug in the ground & the drake was put in to the hole with only his head up.
