  1. There was once a woman who lived in Bunowen. She was spinning on St. Martins night and a knock came to her door. She opened it and in came ten women. They carried a small spinning wheel with them. They set it up beside the other womans wheel and began to spin. The woman of the house got afraid and she said she wanted to go out for a can of water. She went out but she had not gone far when one of the women followed her. She told her that the other women meant to kill her. The woman of the house thought of running away but she thought of her child in the cradle. The other woman told her
