- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)bread and "Paka". Paka was made with yellow meal and was wet with water. Wheaten bread was wet with sour milk.
On St Martin's Eve a duck or a goose would be killed. They would sprinkle the blood on flax. Another name for flax was "tow". They would hang this up on the rafters. This tow was used for all kinds of pains.
On Christmas Day they would eat sweet cake and "stampey". When they would not have these they would eat turnips.
