- My Grandmother has a churn at home and it is use yet. It is about three feet and a half high. It is wider in the bottom than at the top. The dasher is made in the shape of a cross and a handle is attached to it.
This handle goes through a hole in the cover and is used by beating it up and down to make the butter. If a stranger came in during the churning they would have to take a turn at the works or they could not make the butters. Nobody was allowed to take out a coal of fire while churning or the butter would be stolen. From one to two hours it takes(continues on next page)- Collector
