    There is a lot of ruins of old houses in this Parish. They were called mudwall houses. They had thatched roof and there was half-doors in them. The sort of lights they had in the old houses were rush candles the rushes were peeled and dipped in tallow. The fire place was in the gable end of the house. The floors were made of earth.
