  1. Bowling was a favourite pastime long ago.
    They made nine holes on the road side, and they gave numbers to each of them, the middle one was 9 the others were 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
    Every one got three bowls, and the competitor who made the highest score won the game.
    There used be often bowling erctions between two Parishes.
