    throw the weight 26 ft 6 ins, but he was beaten by a man named Phelan.
    The was a well known jumper, in Newtown his name being Pat O Brien.
    He often jumped 18 ft 10 ins at sports, but was never beaten by anybody.
    There was also in Kells some years ago a great long jumper named Hurley, who could jump 30 ft, but he was beaten by an opponent named Henry Young Newtown who could jump 42 ft.
