  1. There was a King drowned in the King's river. His name was King Callan, and that is how Callan got its name. It happened that a soldier fell into the river and the king jumped in to save him and both of them were drowned.
    There was also a boy named Richard Hurley drowned while swiming in the king's river.
    There was a house burned in Kells about 26 years ago. The house was standing opposite the chapel.
