    The Slaney may glide on through valleys so fair
    But Crosstown a treasure you hold for us there
    In Gaelic each name is inscribed on the stone,
    A fine Celtic Cross that ere long will be known
    Oh there lie six Rebels oh, there I have seen
    The thousands that gathered and knealt on the green
    From all parts of Wexford in hundreds they came
    The bands played the 'Dead March' for those ones of fame
    The fires that seemed fading were flamed up anew
    And yonder proud Wexford was plain to my view.

    Her spires in the heavens towered high over all
    In triumph the told me how Cromwell did fall
    Loc Garmain its history of blood and of woe,
    By Cromwell's oppression the world may know,
    O'er centuries now vanished o'er deeds that are past
    We sometimes do think that a veil we could cast
    But one hour in Crosstown with awe there impressed
