- There are three forts in this district. The names of these forts are Carnalurgan Hill, Sheeog, in Clerhaune, and Log-a-leasa in Carnalurgan. They are within two hundred yards of one another. They are round in shape. There are fences around each of them. There is a gate into Carnalurgan Hill. There is a gap into Log-a-leasa and steps into Sheeog. It is said that Peter Brown of Westport House is buried there in Carnalurgan. An old slab of stone marks his grave.
Nobody has gone down in these forts. It is said that the Danes built them, as look-out places. The fairy people are supposed to live in these forts. It is said that the owners of the land do not interfere with them. Lights have been seen at night in Carnalurgan Hill.- Bailitheoir
