- Among the many weeds growing round this district the "chicken weed" and the "capog" are the most harmful. They produce a lot of seeds each year and when these grow up they choke the other plants.
The "corn marigold" is another very troublesome weed. It usually grows in the corn field and its seeds lie hidden for years until they are turned up by the plough.
Among the other troublesome weeds are the nettle, the colt's foot, and the yarrow. The nettle, although troublesome, was once used for coughs, and the colt's foot was used as a cure for chest complaints. The yarrow was also a useful weed long ago.
