When a person got a bad cut, and if it bled a lot, the old people got a cobweb and placed it on the cut. This stopped the bleeding at once.
A great cure for a bad cough was to boil 1/2 lb. of flax-seed in some water, and mix with this, sugar, candy, liquorice, stick, lemons, or vinegar, and some brown sugar. Strain this when boiled, and drink the syrup either hot or cold.
The cure the old people had for warts was, to tie a horse-hair around the wart and it will fall off.
