- These are the farm animals mostly found in this district, horses, mules, asses, cows, calves, sheep, goats, and pigs. Hen, ducks, turkey, and geese are kept in all the local farms. Cows are called Pansy, Daisy, and Janey. When driving a cow to the field people say "dwish a cailin." This is also said to calves. Cows are tied to stakes or stalls. Some cows are tied by the horns but the most of them are tied around the neck. The tying for the cows is made by people themselves at home and is made of ropes.
A horse-shoe is hung over the door. It is supposed to be an emblem of good luck. A pig is kept in an enclosure called a pig-sty. Sheep are never house but they are reared in large fields or on mountains. They are driven once every year into pens for shearing purposes.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
