Long ago, people used to have two or three meals a day. Rich people who could afford it had three meals but the poorer people had only two meals. The breakfast which was the first meal, was eaten early in the morning, People who had cows to look after and other work to do did not have their breakfast until they had all the outside was done. porridge was eaten for breakfast. Some people liked milk with it and others prefered butter and sugar. they had boxty, cally, cabbage, bacon and potatoes for the dinner. sometimes they had turnips for the dinner. on fridays they had herrings and cally for the dinner. if they had milk they drank it but if not they used water. the people drank more buttermilk long ago than they do now. for that meal they had they also had potato-cake. the supper was eaten at night before going to bed. they had boxty, potato-cake, oatmeal bread(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
