- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)The Drug or Slipe was made either by local carpenters or by the farmer himself. They were not sold by dealers in agricultural implements. The wood was usually deal. On the bottom were two pieces of wood about 4" wide and 4" thick running along the entire length of the drug. These pieces of wood were known as the "soles" and they were shod with iron. The soles were usually made of ash. The work of 'shoeing' the drug was usually done by the local blacksmith who made the iron strips out of the old shoeing of a cartwheel.
