* Pat Oiney Thomais, go nDeánaidh Dia Trócaire air, deserves special mention. Pat was a fine sturdy bearded farmer, over six feet in height. He had the Gael's natural love and respect for learning, and many a time he put to shame the product of the modern schools with his posers in Cube Root and Arithmetical Progressions. He was a fine speaker of Irish and when the Gaelic League class began in 1907, though he was over 60 years of age, he took up the study of 'Book' Irish. I can well recall Pat's entering a neighbour's house one evening and announcing that he had whiled away(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
