When they had the Leprechaun caught they held him tight in their hands and they kept looking at him all the time. The Leprechaun was jumping up and down and the men could hardly hold him in their hands.
At last they were able to hold him and they asked him where had he his purse of gold and the Leprechaun said "look behind you and you will see it" and the two men jumped round quickly but they could see no purse behind.
Then the two men went home and they told their wives what had happened and their wives were very angry with them for looking round. Their wives said that they would not go anymore to look for money.
